Pulley
  • Winder: simple board type, or winder with handles to be able to rewind faster.
  • Line: polyamide line of 1,2mm (70kg) or 1,8mm (120kg).
  • Links: to hook the line on the kite.
  • Gloves: essential to prevent injury with the line.
  • Pulley: to quickly lower the line and bring the kite back.
  • Spring balance: to measure the tension of the line before fixing the suspension.
  • Suspension: some kapers swear by Picavet suspension, we only use pendulum type.

    Material: 10mm thick plywood.

    Handles: wooden broomhandle.

    Assembly: wood glue and screws.
    This winder can hold 800m of 1.2mm polyamide line or 600m of 1.8mm polyamide line.

    Material: aluminum profile 20mm x 2mm section.
    This simple suspension rig has proven efficiency during many years of KAP practice.
    Axis of rotation is built with 3mm screw and nut. Two fragments of PVC pipe placed on both sides of the axis slow down the rotation.


    Plan to build a pulley
    What you have to get is a pulley with a 360° case.
    The modification consists in cutting the pulley case as shown on the picture.
    The handle of the pulley is built with a piece of strap.
